Actions to be Taken When You Failed to Bulk Register/Update Records

This section explains how to solve the issue in which the process of creating or updating records in bulk failed.

When the process of creating or updating records in bulk fails, the "Record List" screen displays the following message:
Click "Details" to check the details of the result.

Symptom Solution
The following error message is displayed:
GAIA_IL16: The value of field "field name" at row number R of the file is invalid. Please confirm the field conditions such as "Required field" or "Prohibit duplicate values", and modify the value of the file. If the field type is a Drop-down or a Radio Button, please confirm that the value matches one of the options included in the field settings.
When a value is required to be entered in the field settings:
Make sure that a proper value is entered in the cell that is indicated in the error message.
When duplicate values are prohibited in "Field Settings":
Make sure that the value of the cell that is indicated in the error message is unique and thus not duplicated with other records.
When the field is radio button or drop-down:
An option that does not exist in the field may be entered in the file. Use values from options that exist in the field.
When the error message indicates a field that is not to be updated:
Values in the field that is indicated in the error message does not correspond to the "Field Settings". One of the possible causes is that some values are not reflected for the required fields. Check the "Field Settings" and the values to be entered in the field.
When You Try to Import a File Having a Value Exceeding the Maximum Digits
The error may be caused by the field value (indicated in the error message) exceeds the number of digits set in Total Number of Digits. Check the value in Total Number of Digits on Misc Settings in your App settings page.
The following error message is displayed:
GAIA_IL17: The format of field "field name" at row number R of the file is invalid. In kintone, the supported formats for importing vary for each field type. Check the value of field "field name" at row number R in the file.
Modify the entry format of the field in the import file that is indicated in the error message.
For details on the supported format for each field type, see the following page:
Supported Formats for Each Field Type
The following error message is displayed:
GAIA_IL48: Category "C" specified at row number R of the file does not exist in the App. Open the "App settings" and check that the value exists in the "Categories" settings.
The cell value that is indicated in the error message does not exist in the options for Category. Use values from the options that exist in the Category field.
The following error message is displayed:
GAIA_II03: This App contains tables. To import data into tables of Apps, the imported file must contain a flag (indicated by the * symbol) in the first column of each new record. If you do not want to import data from the file into tables of Apps, do not specify columns which indicate fields in the table.
When you want to import table data:
Add a column to the beginning of the file, and enter an asterisk (*) in each row or leave them empty. A row with an asterisk (*) and its subsequent rows without an asterisk (*) will be added to a record as a table. Each row with an asterisk (*) becomes the first row of a table.
Example of imported table data:
Each of the following sets of rows is added to a record: rows 2 and 3, rows 4 and 5, and rows 6 to 8.
When you do not want to import table data:
By using either of the following ways, you can avoid importing fields in the table.
  • Delete columns, which correspond to fields in the table, from the file to import.
  • When you import a file to an app, specify "(None)" for all the "Column in File" for fields in the table.
The following error message is displayed:
GAIA_II02: Row number R of the file contains multiple table data. Ensure that only data for one table is included in one row of the file.
Correct the file to be imported so that each row contains no more than one table.
Example :
The following error message is displayed:
GAIA_RE10: The value in the Key to Bulk Update field in record number R is duplicated in another record.
Correct the file to be imported so that every value in the Key to Bulk Update fields are unique.
The following error message is displayed:
GAIA_IL19: Failed to lookup with the value of field "field name" at row number R of the file. The corresponding record cannot be found in the datasource app.
The Lookup field cannot find any value to import from the datasource app. Make sure that the datasource app has values in the cells indicated in the error message.
An empty record is created. Delete any blank lines in the file.
A blank line is converted into an empty record.
Cannot perform the line break action for values in the Rich text field. In the import file, insert <br> in places that require a line break.
The following error message is displayed:
To update fields in a table, select "Column in File" for all the fields in the table. You cannot update some tables; for example, a table which contains "Attachment" field. For details, see the Help.
When the "Key to Bulk Update" is selected, select "Column in File" for all the fields in the table displayed in "Field in App".
Also, if the table has following fields, you cannot perform bulk update.
  • Attachment field
  • Lookup field, when "Prohibit duplicate values" is disabled for the key field.
For details on bulk updating tables, see the following pages.

The following error message is displayed:
Failed to start importing the file, because the app settings were updated while you configured the file import. Possible causes are: "fields were added into the table" or "settings of the fields in the import file were changed". Please confirm the updated settings and change the import data, then try to import the file again.
While displaying the screen to import data from file, field addition/change was performed in the form setting screen.
Add/change the corresponding field in the file, and then try to import the file again.
