Setting App Permissions

App permissions are used to control who can manage the app or work with its records.
You can configure app permissions for the following actions:

  • Managing Apps
  • Adding, viewing, editing, or deleting records
  • Adding and editing records in bulk (Import from File)
  • Exporting records or summarized results to a file

Default Permissions

By default, the user who created an app is allowed to perform the following actions: (You can configure which actions are allowed for the app creator.)

  • Managing the app*
  • Adding and editing records in bulk (Import from File)
  • Exporting records or summarized results to a file

*Users & System Administrators are allowed to manage apps regardless of how permissions are configured on the apps.

Procedure

  1. Click the app setting button Setting button on the upper right of the record view, select "App Settings" tab > "Permissions", and then select Apps.
  2. Set permission for an app.
    When multiple permissions are applied to one user, the uppermost row has priority.
    The apps do not appear for users who have no permission to view and add records.

    For example, the following setting allows "John Jones" to perform all the actions and the app does not appear to other users:
    Example 1:
    John Doe [✔] View records [✔] Add records [✔] Edit records [✔] Delete records [✔] Manage app [✔] Import from file [✔] Export to file
    Everyone [  ] View records [  ] Add records [  ] Edit records [  ] Delete records [  ] Manage app [  ] Import from file [  ] Export to file

    For example, the following setting allows users other than "John Jones" to perform all the actions and the app does not appear to "John Jones":
    Example 2:
    John Jones [  ] View records [  ] Add records [  ] Edit records [  ] Delete records [  ] Manage app [  ] Import from file [  ] Export to file
    Everyone [✔] View records [✔] Add records [✔] Edit records [✔] Delete records [✔] Manage app [✔] Import from file [✔] Export to file
  3. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen. Save
  4. Click Update App on the upper right side of the screen. Update App

Setting Permissions for Multiple Apps

Permissions for App need to be set for each app.
If you want to set the same permission for multiple apps, you can use the App Group feature to avoid troublesome task of setting the permission one by one.
By using the App Group feature, you can set the permission for all the apps that belong to the app group. System administrators can add app groups.
