Combinations of Field Types Acceptable for App Action

The combinations of fields you can set for App Actions are determined by their field types. Generally, you can specify the same type of fields for copy source and target. Additionally, some combinations can be constructed from one field type to multiple field types or from different field types.
The following table lists acceptable combinations of types. Combinations of Actions fields

Notes for Copying Fields Having Selections

Note the following conditions when you copy fields that have drop-down lists, radio buttons, multiple selections, and check boxes:

  • You can copy field values if their selection names are identical in the copy source app and the target app.
    • If the field does not have a selection name matches to the other, the system selects the default selection value.
However, no selection value will be selected in the drop-down field if the field does not have a default value.
    • If you specified the field selection names for each language in Localization, the language must be matched with the selection name for the language of the user who performs the action. If no selection language name was specified for the user, the system uses the default selection name to match.

Notes for Specifying Fields in Tables

Note the following when specifying fields in tables: Generally, it is easier to specify a table for both copy source and copy target.

  • For the targets of table fields, you can only specify the fields in the table.

  • For the targets of non-table fields, you cannot specify the fields in the table.

  • You cannot copy record URLs to fields in a table.

  • When you specify multiple tables as copy sources, you cannot specify the same table as their copy target. In such a case, the following error message appears when you try to save the app action: "Cannot copy fields from multiple tables into one table. "

Limitations

  • You cannot select attachment fields as a target.

  • App actions cannot copy fields that are part of Related Records.

  • When the record numbers are copied to the app with an app code, only the numbers are copied. The app code is not copied.

  • For in-space apps in a guest space, only the apps in the same guest space can be specified for the copy destination.
Additionally, in-space apps in a guest space cannot be a destination of an app action unless the app action is specified for an app that belongs to the same guest space.
