Creating an Action to Duplicate a Record in the Same App

If you use the App actions feature to specify the same field in the same app as a copy target, you can create an action button to duplicate a record.
Unlike the Duplicate Record feature, the action feature allows you to select a field to copy.

  1. Click the app setting button Setting button on the upper right of the record view, select "App Settings" tab > "Advanced Settings", and then select Actions.

  2. Click New on the upper left side of the action setting screen. Create an action Next, configure the action.

  3. In the "Name" field, enter the action button name to display in the record details screen.
In this example, enter "Duplicate" as a name. Screen

  4. In the "Target" field, select the target app where the data is copied to.
In this example, select the same app as the source (This app). Screen

  5. In "Field Mappings", specify the source field and the destination field for copying data.
By selecting a source field from which you copy data, the same field is automatically selected for the destination field.
You can also change the destination field, if necessary.
There might be a case where you select a source field and the field cannot be specified as the destination field. In that case, you must manually select the destination field because it is not automatically selected.

    • If you click Add all, all the remaining and configurable fields are bulk added under the fields that have been already mapped.
If you have a large number of fields to map, it is effective to add all the fields in bulk by using Add all first, and then delete the fields that you do not want to use for duplicating data.
    • You can also click Clear All to delete all the mappings that you already configured.
  6. By using "Available To", you can specify users to whom you show the created action button.
If necessary, delete the predefined setting "Everyone" and add users, departments, or groups that can use the action you created.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Click App Settings in the message displayed at the top of the screen or click Settings in the breadcrumbs. Screen

  9. Click Update App on the upper right of the App Settings screen, and click OK.

The "Duplicate" action button is now displayed in the record details screen.

If you have set Process Management, the Process Management action button is also displayed.

If you click "Duplicate" action button, the screen to add records opens and the data of the specified field are populated.

If you have copied contents of a Lookup field, you need to click Lookup to get the information again.
