Features Available with Update Options

On the "Update Options" screen, you can enable or disable some of the new (or updated) features.
This article describes the features that can be enabled or disabled as of the release of the April 2024 update.

Features selectable under "Disable New Features"

Indicate on the Form Settings Screen Which Fields Will Be Auto-Populated

This feature makes it so fields that will be auto-populated when you enter data for a record are also indicated on the Form settings screen.

For example, fields specified as field mappings of a "Lookup" field are always grayed out when you enter data for a record because their data is automatically retrieved based on the value entered in the "Lookup" field. With this feature, such fields are also grayed out on the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the May 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Evaluate Assignee Selection Method Change Immediately Upon Change Attempt in Process Management Settings

This feature makes it so an error that appears if you cannot change the assignee selection method (User chooses one assignee from the list to take action, All assignees in the list must take action, or One assignee in the list must take action) in Process Management is displayed at the time when you are trying to change the assignee selection method on the Process Management settings screen.
Previously, this error would appear only when you clicked Update App after saving the Process Management settings.

Changes to How Invalid Values Are Handled by JavaScript APIs for Getting or Setting "Number" Field Values

This update changes how invalid values are handled by JavaScript APIs for getting or setting "Number" field values.

For details, refer to About Updates that Will Be Available to Preview as of November 12, 2023 on cybozu developer network. (This page is available only in Japanese.)

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the May 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Improved App Settings Design (Improved Line Contrast)

This feature increases the line contrast used for buttons, input fields, and other UI components in App Settings.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Show Error-Causing Field in "Cannot Prohibit Duplicate Values" Error Message

This feature makes it so the name of the error-causing field is shown in the "Cannot Prohibit Duplicate Values" error message. This error message appears after you click Update App when there is a field that contains duplicate values and has Prohibit duplicate values enabled.
Being able to see the error-causing field allows you to determine from the error message which field contains duplicate values.
However, if there are multiple error-causing fields, only the name of one of the fields will be displayed in the error message. Multiple field names are not displayed in a single error message.

Enhanced Field Selection Areas in App Settings for Easier Identification of Fields within Tables, Field Groups, or Related Records

This feature makes it so the list of fields displayed in field selection areas in App Settings shows the names of field groups and tables that contain fields.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Receive "To Me" Notifications on Desktop When kintone Is Opened in Google Chrome Browser

This feature displays desktop notifications when "To Me" notifications are received in kintone.
When you receive a "To Me" notification while you have kintone open in a tab of your web browser, the notification details appear on your desktop.
This allows you to notice right away when you receive notifications, even if you aren't looking at the kintone screen.
This feature can only be used with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Note that anyone who wants to receive desktop notifications needs to configure the following settings for the environment in which they use kintone.

Settings that each user needs to configure to use desktop notifications

  • In your web browser, open the kintone "Personal Settings" screen and enable Desktop Notifications.
    For the steps to open the "Personal Settings" screen, refer to Personal Settings.

  • Allow notifications from kintone in your web browser's settings.
    Configure your settings using one of the following methods.

    • Click Allow on the pop-up message that appears in your web browser asking if you want to allow notifications sent from kintone.
    • Add the URL of your kintone environment as a site to allow notifications from in your web browser's notification settings.
  • Enable receiving notifications from Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge in your OS's notification settings

    • For Windows: Configure the settings from Notifications in Settings.
    • For macOS: Configure the settings from Notifications in System Settings.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Improved App Settings Design (Updated Button and Form Shapes)

This feature updates the shapes of buttons and input fields in App Settings.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Improved App Settings Design (Improved Keyboard Operability for Dropdown Components)

This feature makes it so pressing the Enter key to select an option from a dropdown in App Settings will close the dropdown list.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Improved App Settings Design (Improved Keyboard Operability for User/Department/Group Selection Components)

This feature makes it so pressing the Enter or space key on the search button of a User Selection, Department Selection, or Group Selection component in App Settings moves the cursor focus to the search box.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Improved App Settings Design (Implementing Kanatype-Insensitive Search for Search Components)

This feature makes it so that field search components in App Settings can search without distinction between hiragana and katakana.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Improved App Settings Design (Improved Keyboard Operability for Menu Components)

This feature makes it so that selecting a menu component using the Enter or space key focuses your cursor on the first menu option.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Improved App Settings Design (Enhanced Radio Button Visibility in Windows High Contrast Mode)

This feature makes it easier to see whether radio buttons in App Settings are selected or not when you are using Windows in high contrast mode.
The feature is applied to all screens in App Settings except for the Form settings screen.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Changes to Design and Layout of View Settings Screen

This feature updates the design of the View settings screen in App Settings to match the current kintone design. For details on the changes made to the design and layout, refer to the following page. Update Information (Only available in Japanese)

Changes in the Design and Layout of "Graph" Screens in App Settings

This feature updates the design of the "Graph" screens in App Settings to match the current kintone design. For details on the changes made to the design and layout, refer to the following page. Update Information (Only available in Japanese)

Find Fields to Place in the View with Keyword Search on "View" Settings Screen

This feature lets you search for keywords to narrow down the fields to place on the View settings screen in App Settings. The feature is only applied to the View settings screen with the current kintone design.

Show User Profile Pop-ups

This feature shows a user's various links and department information in a pop-up when you click their kintone user name.
If you are using kintone with Garoon, a link to the user's schedule screen will also appear in the pop-up.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under Disable New Features will disable it. This feature can be disabled until the August 2024 update is released. From that time onward, this feature will always be enabled.

Preserve Column Widths When Starting Inline Record Editing on App's View Screen

This feature makes it so editing a record field directly on an app's "View" screen does not change any adjustments made to the field's column width.
Previously, if you altered the column width of a field on an app's "View" screen, the altered column width would be changed again after you pressed the Edit button.

Show App Title Bar on In-Space Apps

This feature displays a title bar at the top of opened in-space apps. The title bar includes the app's icon and name.

Features selectable under "Disable New Features (Features available only in Current Channel)"

Features selectable under Disable New Features (Features available only in Current Channel) are displayed only when Current Channel is selected in the Select Update Channel section.
Note that the features you can enable or disable may change at any time. For the latest information on which features can be enabled or disabled, please check the "Update Options" screen.

As of the release date of the April 2024 update, there are no new features or enhancements that can be previewed.

Displaying All Errors Together When File Import Fails

When multiple errors occur during an Import from File operation, only one error is displayed on the "Imported Files" screen.

However, if you enable this feature, you can display up to 20 errors at once. (Some errors may be excluded.) The error message format will also be partially different compared to when the feature is disabled.

New File Import Method

With the file import method that has been used until now, the import process stops if a single instance of non-importable data is encountered when importing data from an Excel or CSV file into an existing app.
If you select the Enable this feature: New File Import Method checkbox under New Features in Development, data sets will continue being imported from a file even if it contains some data sets that are non-importable.

System Monitoring

This feature adds the System Monitoring section to the "kintone Administration" screen.
On the "System Monitoring" screen, you can check the status of search indexing jobs.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under New Features in Development will enable it.

Allow kintone Administrators to Restrict Plug-in Use

This feature allows kintone Administrators to configure which apps and spaces are allowed to be used with each plug-in. If a space is set to use a plug-in, all of the apps within the space can use the plug-in.

To set up restrictions for the use of a plug-in, open the "Plug-ins" screen in kintone Administration, then click Settings for the plug-in under Imported Plug-ins or Plug-in Marketplace.

Show Date and Time Values in "DD MM YYYY" Format When Browser's Language Setting Is Set to English (Australia)

This feature displays kintone date and time values in "DD MM YYYY" format. Date and time values can also be entered in "DD MM YYYY" format.

Selecting the checkbox for this feature under New Features in Development will enable it.
As of the January 2024 update, this feature is only applied if the following conditions are met.

  • Use Web browser settings is selected under Language in Account Settings.
  • English (Australia) is selected as the language in your web browser's settings.

Improved kintone Administration Design ("Header Color" Screen Design and Layout Change)

This feature updates the UI and layout design of kintone Administration.
Selecting the checkbox for this feature under New Features in Development will enable it.
This feature is only applied to the "Header Color" screen. There are plans to apply it to additional screens in future updates.

Ability to Change Already Set App Codes

This feature lets you change app codes that have already been set in App Settings.
After changing an app code, you can set the previously-used app code for a different app.
Selecting the checkbox for this feature under New Features in Development will enable it.

Before changing an app code, make sure to check Notes on Changing App Codes.

Seamlessly Start Inline Record Editing by Double-Clicking on Field Values on App's View Screen

This feature makes it so you can edit record fields directly on an app's "View" screen by double-clicking a field.
When a record is being edited on the "View" screen, Save and Cancel buttons appear under the record. This feature eliminates the need to move to the right end of a record and press the Edit or Save button.

Intuitive Flow Chart for Process Management Settings

This feature adds a flow chart that shows the statuses and actions set on the "Process Management" screen. You can use this chart to visually confirm the flow of your Process Management settings.

Evaluate If Value Data Types and Operators Are Compatible When They Are Being Entered Together in a Formula

This feature evaluates whether or not value data types and operators are compatible when they are being entered together in a formula in an app's Form settings.
Previously, it was not possible to notice that there was a data type and operator compatibility error in a field until viewing a record's "Record Details" screen in the app.
Selecting the checkbox for this feature under New Features in Development will enable it.

API Lab

API Lab lets you try out APIs that are currently in development.
These APIs may be discontinued mid-development or changed dramatically. For this reason, we recommend using them only for testing purposes, and not with your actual kintone environment.

JavaScript API for Getting Logged-In User Permissions for Currently Opened Record

This allows you to use a JavaScript API that can get logged-in user permissions for records that are currently open.
Selecting the checkbox for this feature under New Features in Development will enable it.

JavaScript API for Getting Logged-In User's App Permissions

This allows you to use a JavaScript API for getting logged-in user permissions for apps. As of January 2024, it is possible to get permission only for adding records.

JavaScript API for Showing/Hiding Sidebar of Currently Opened Record

This allows you to use a JavaScript API for showing or hiding the Comments/History sidebar of an open record.

Title Field Settings Values and Some of Misc Settings Values Retrievable/Updatable with REST API for Getting/Updating General Settings

This adds more items that can be handled by the Get General Settings REST API and Update General Settings REST API.
