Configuring Basic Authentication

When IP address restrictions are enabled, to allow access to cybozu.com from public and home networks, you must set up either Basic authentication or client certificate authentication. This section describes how to configure Basic authentication.

With Basic authentication enabled, users are authenticated with a password before they can access the cybozu.com login page from public and home networks. Users must be authenticated at the following two steps:

  1. When accessing the cybozu.com login page
  2. When logging in to cybozu.com

Steps to Log in from the Corporate Network

  1. Enter your cybozu.com login name and password to log in.
    This completes the login. Login screen

Steps to Log in from a Public or Home Network

  1. Enter the user name and password to access the cybozu.com login page.
    This user name and password are shared between all users. The entry screen may look different depending on the operating system or Web browser. Screen to enter Basic Authentication user name and password
  2. Enter your cybozu.com login name and password, and then click "Login".

Basic authentication is offered at no additional charge. The following administrators are allowed to configure the authentication:

  • cybozu.com Store Administrator
  • Users & System Administrators who have permission to configure access control

Procedure

You can use cybozu.com Store or Users & System Administration to configure Basic authentication.

Configuring through cybozu.com Store

  1. Access and log in to cybozu.com Store with the e-mail address and password of a cybozu.com Store Administrator. Login screen of cybozu.com Store
  2. Click "Domains" and then click the "Security & Authentication" tab.
    Select the domain you want from the drop-down list, if multiple domains are owned. Domain administration screen
  3. Click "Change" in the "Basic Authentication" section. Enter the user name and password to be used for Basic authentication, and then click "Save".
    • The user name can consist of alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).
      The maximum length is 127 characters.
      The user name is case-sensitive.
    • The password can consist of alphanumeric characters and half-width symbols.
      The length must be between 5 and 64 characters.

Once the configuration is complete, an e-mail is sent to the e-mail address of the cybozu.com Store Administrator.

Configuring through the "Users & System Administration" Page

When you are allowed to configure access control, you can use the following procedure to configure Basic authentication.

  1. On the "Users & System Administration" page, under "Security", click "Access Control".
  2. Click "Configure Now". Image of the link to 'Configure Now'
  3. Click "Change" in the "Basic Authentication" section. Enter the user name and password to be used for Basic authentication, and then click "Save".
    • The user name can consist of alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).
      The maximum length is 127 characters.

    • The password can consist of alphanumeric characters and half-width symbols.
      The length must be between 5 and 64 characters.
